Don’t call it a baby St. Joseph, this IGP Syrah of old vines come from a sloped parcel between Tournon and Sécheras that was gerrymandered out of the St. Joseph appellation, but produced high end St. Joseph for decades.

Julien and Nancy’s goal is to make a classic Syrah, faithful to the way St. Joseph would have been made with these grapes by the 7 generations of Julien’s family that were winemakers before him. During maceration, Julien only does infrequent pumpovers and no punchdowns, adding complexity and juiciness, but without over-extracting the grapes.

During the 10-16 months of aging, Julien only ages 30% in old barrel (barrels used to make his St. Joseph), the rest is made from steel tank.
